This surface-mount Ka-band subarray operates in the 15–17 GHz range and supports single-beam, time-division duplex transmission and reception in pulse mode, with a maximum duty cycle of 25% and pulse width of 50 µs. The 16×16 array (256 elements) features independent phase shift and attenuation control per channel, including single-channel switching capability, and provides overvoltage, overcurrent, and timing-disorder protection to prevent burnout. It reports on-chip TR component temperature during operation and includes a low-power mode that powers the RF control chip while disabling the RF channel signal. Vertically polarized by design, the subarray measures 10 mm × 10 mm and supports scanning ranges of –45° to +45° in both azimuth and elevation. At broadside, typical beamwidth is 5.91°±0.6° for transmission and 7.2°±0.8° for reception, with pointing accuracy better than 0.2°.
