New PLL and DDS Dual Digital Power Amplifier Module
At present, many drones have customized frequency bands and special channels to counter interference, making ordinary DDS systems ineffective. To address this challenge, ZDTECH has developed an advanced dual band module combining DDS and PLL technologies. The integrated PLL can simultaneously lock 5-8 drone frequency bands. This power module leverages phase-locked loop (PLL) technology – a negative feedback control system that synchronizes output signals with input references through voltage-controlled oscillators (VCO) and PLL ICs. The closed-loop design ensures stable frequency tracking, while the integrated power amplifier jammer module boosts output strength for reliable signal suppression.
A phase-locked loop (PLL) is a negative feedback control system that uses the voltage generated by phase synchronization to tune the voltage-controlled oscillator to generate the target frequency. According to the principle of automatic control, this is a typical feedback control circuit that uses an external input reference signal to control the frequency and phase of the oscillation signal inside the loop to achieve automatic tracking of the output signal frequency to the input signal frequency. It is generally used in closed-loop tracking circuits. It is a method to make the frequency more stable in radio transmission. It mainly includes VCO (voltage controlled oscillator) and PLL IC (phase locked loop integrated circuit). The voltage controlled oscillator gives a signal, one part of which is used as output, and the other part is compared with the local oscillator signal generated by the PLL IC through frequency division. In order to keep the frequency unchanged, the phase difference is required not to change. If there is a change in the phase difference, the voltage at the voltage output end of the PLL IC changes to control the VCO until the phase difference is restored to achieve the purpose of phase locking. A closed-loop electronic circuit that can keep the frequency and phase of the controlled oscillator in a certain relationship with the input signal.
Phase-locked loop (PLL) has the advantages of high frequency resolution and short locking time, and has been widely used in wireless communication systems. Phase-locked loop (PLL) is a closed-loop feedback control system that can synchronize the output signal with the input signal in frequency and phase. Phase detector, loop filter and voltage controlled oscillator are the key parts of almost all phase-locked loops. Phase-locked loops (PLLs) may be the most widely used synchronization technology in grid-connected applications. Direct Digital Synthesis (DDs) is also an emerging and mature signal generation technology. Another advanced technology is that the DDS signal is mixed with the voltage-controlled oscillator output in the phase-locked loop feedback path.DDS is a new frequency synthesis method developed in recent years. It has extremely fast frequency conversion speed, high frequency resolution and phase continuity during frequency conversion. These characteristics have enabled it to develop and be applied rapidly, especially in the field of counter-drone.
However, the DDS frequency synthesizer has the disadvantages of large spurious and limited output bandwidth. The phase-locked loop (PLL) is a narrowband filter with low output phase noise and wide output bandwidth. However, the phase-locked loop has slow frequency conversion speed and low frequency resolution. The frequency synthesis method combining DDS and phase-locked loop can make up for their respective shortcomings.
